Weaning done right

From milk to solid food between weeks three and eight — gradually, and on the puppies' terms.

Starting solids

From about three to four weeks, offer a gruel of high-quality puppy food soaked warm. Expect more walking through it than eating at first — several small offerings a day and the litter's curiosity do the teaching.

Let the bitch decide

The bitch naturally nurses less as teeth come in. Give her a place to rest away from the puppies but let her return freely — abrupt separation stresses everyone and benefits no one.

By delivery day

At eight weeks puppies should eat solid food confidently four times a day. Send each buyer home with the food the puppy knows, a written schedule, and the growth curve from the app.
