A thorough check at around eight weeks sends each puppy to its new home healthy and documented.
Before delivery, a vet should examine each puppy for heart murmurs, hernias, undescended testicles in males, eyes, bite and general health. Puppies normally get their first vaccination and deworming, all recorded on a health certificate.
Each buyer should receive the vaccination and deworming record, the microchip and registration papers, the food the puppy is used to, and a written care and feeding guide. Growth curves and photos from the app add reassuring continuity.
A well-socialized, wormed, vaccinated and vet-checked puppy that eats solid food confidently is ready to leave at the earliest around eight weeks. Never deliver a puppy earlier — those last weeks with the litter are vital for development.
